‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ ‘Twenty Twelve,’ ‘Savages’ — Check It or Chuck It

It’s Check It or Chuck It, a weekly column in which we recommend five things to check out and five things to “chuck.” Highlights this week include some web-slinging superhero fun, Oliver Stone’s return to the criminal underworld and BBC America’s Summer Olympics spoof. And, as always, we recommend a few things to avoid in your weekly media diet, including a fairy tale-based Blu-ray release and a pair of slumping reality shows.

Aerosmith Unfold Their Wings at Cleveland Concert

Throughout most of Aerosmith‘s concert in Cleveland, Ohio last night (June 19), a single square panel of the circular video screen above the band refused to fall in line with the rest of the display, broadcasting random colors instead of say, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry in action.

WWE Smackdown Recap: Racist Dinosaur Hands

When they first started showing highlights from past editions of Monday Night Raw, Triple H did a segment where, without any sort of irony, he said his favorite Raw moment was when he returned from his quadricep injury in 2002. New Video Game Releases — July 2012

The new video game releases for July 2012 has very little to get excited about. One interesting note is that while there’s not a single new Vita game coming out there are plenty for the 3DS. E3 was pretty light on stuff for Sony’s new system but let’s hope we start to see more releases in the coming months.

Get a Guitar Lesson from One of Texas’ Best [VIDEO]

Eric Johnson is one of those guitar players that sets a new standard for style, tone, fluidity and accuracy, not to mention is melodic songwriting. I was fortunate enough to see him recently as part of the Experience Hendrix tour, and the man was nothing short of phenomenal. As an amateur player myself who can barely make it through fractured versions of Iron Man and Free Bird, it's always inspiring to see someone like Eric play, that is until I try to learn one of his techniques. Then I just want to break my guitar. I suppose it helps if you have hands that are built for guitar, with fingers that are about a mile long. Here's a little inspiration from the master himself.

WWE ‘Monday Night Raw’ Recap – [5/14/12]

This is a tough time of year for WWE. Less than a month after the absolutely colossal ‘WrestleMania XXVIII,’ the promotion put on the shockingly good ‘Extreme Rules’ pay-per-view, and then less than 30 days after that, they’re back with this Sunday’s ‘Over the Limit.’ While perhaps not as explosive a card as ‘Extreme Rules’ or ‘WrestleMania,’ this Sunday’s show has a fair amount going for it and this week’s ‘Monday Night Raw’ kept building toward the event.
