That's right ice cream junkies. Ble Bell ice cream will be back on the shelves in select markets beginning August 31st according to a statement released by the company yesterday.

The ice cream maker began production at its Sylacauga, Alabama, facility in July. Other production facilities, including Blue Bell's Brenham headquarters, are still undergoing upgrades.

Blue Bell will re-enter the marketplace in five phases. The first phase, which begins at the end of the month, will include shipping to Brenham, Houston, Austin and parts of Alabama. The next four phases are listed below.

Phase Two: North central Texas and southern Oklahoma
Phase Three: Southwest Texas and central Oklahoma
Phase Four: The majority of Texas and southern Louisiana
Phase Five: Complete the states of Alabama, Oklahoma and Texas and begin distribution in Arkansas, Florida, northern Louisiana and Mississippi. This phase will also include only parts of the following states: Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The dates the additional phases are set to begin have not been announced.

Not sure what that means for Victoria and surrounding areas. Since the ice cream will be available in Houston and Austin, and Victoria sits smack in the middle of those cities, it's hard to say whether we will get it on the 31st or if we have to wait until Phase Three. Either way, it's exciting that the company, who was on the verge of going under, will be back in full force by the end of the year. Grab your spoons.
