The London Olympics this summer seem to have created a wave of British fever that’s undeniable. If you’re visiting London for the first time for the Summer Games, you might have a bit of culture shock. That’s where we come in.
New Yorkers who looked up into the sky on Friday were treated to something simply amazing. The Space Shuttle Enterprise rocketed past such iconic New York City landmarks as the Statue of Liberty and One World Trade Center before coming in for a landing at JFK airport. Luckily, photographers caught the close encounter.
In one corner, we have Blackie, the Doberman star of ‘Hugo,’ who, along with his partner in crime Sacha Baron Cohen, hates losing to the bad guy. Asa Butterfield’s character literally gave the canine a run for his money.
In the other, we have Uggie, the Jack Russell terrier famous for the adorable tricks he performed in ‘The Artist‘ with Jean Dujardin and ‘Water for Elephants’ with Robert Pattinson.
In one corner, we have the vampires from ‘Underworld Awakening,’ who not only possess enhanced speed and strength, but also know how to shoot up the place and look really cool leaping off of tall buildings.
In the other, we have the vampires from the ‘Twilight Saga,’ whose bodies are hard like diamonds, whose bites unleash pent-up stocks up venom that burns their victims, and whose skin sparkles in the day light.
In the other, we have Noomi Rapace, who set the Lisbeth Salander standard by portraying the character in the original Swedish film versions of all three Stieg Larsson novels. Many audiences were convinced that the intensity she brought to the role could never be duplicated.
In the other, we have ‘Star Trek,’ the show that gave Leonard Nimoy (Spock), William Shatner (Captain Kirk) and George Takei (Sulu) a cult following and launched their careers. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto furthered the legacy by starring in the 2009 film.
