Tom Hanks is among Hollywood's most beloved actors, so who better to inhabit Walt Disney, one of Tinseltown's most ambitious dreamers? Hanks is portraying Disney in 'Saving Mr. Banks,' and today we're getting our first look at the man in all his mustachioed glory.
Harrison Ford and Zac Efron. Not two names you'd necessarily expect to go together in a film -- especially a film being compared to 'Cape Fear.' Then you throw Rob Reiner in the mix as director and the world has gone topsy-turvy!
So what is this film, titled 'You Belong to Me,' have in store for us?
No 'Star Wars: Episode 7' for George Lucas! In case you haven't heard (yeah right), Lucas recently sold his Lucasfilm empire to Disney for a meager $4 billion, giving the future of 'Star Wars' over to the Mouse House and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. A stunning development that immediately reinvigorated the 'Star Wars' brand and turned the entire fanboy focus toward the beloved franchise once again.
But what about George? He'll act as creative consultant on the next 'Star Wars' trilogy, starting with 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' but by and large he'll be leaving the force in someone else's hands. So the question is, what does the man do with his time now?
Earlier this week we learned some potentially huge James Bond news. A report circulated that 'Skyfall' screenwriter John Logan (who we know is returning for the series' next installment) had secretly plotted a two-part plot line for 'Bond 24' and '25,' which would be a rather major turn of events. Today, however, we're learning from 007 himself not to believe the hype.
Some of us are lucky enough to have seen 'Skyfall' already; indeed, it can safely be said that it earns the hype it's receiving as one of the best Bond movies ever. Just thrilling entertainment from start to finish. Part of its power stems from a complex, incisive, character-driven screenplay, and it looks like the Bond producers are well aware of that, as they've just hired one of the writers back for the next installment.
This Halloween, most of us will be doing one of two things (or both): Watching scary movies, and gorging ourselves with candy. But you needn't feel guilty after your third 'Friday the 13th' movie and your tenth fun size Snickers bar: a new study has found that watching horror movies can actually burn hundreds of calories! Fire up Netflix and break out the candy corn!
Some heroes aren't born, they're made. And some of those heroes make heroic, super-cool things. Like 'Star Wars' fan Chris Lee, who, it has come to our attention, has embarked on a cool-thing-making mission of true courage that could change the courses of all our lives.
Yes, friends, Mr. Lee is building a full scale Millennium Falcon.
Amy Adams is likely on her way to a fourth Oscar nomination for her intense work in Paul Thomas Anderson's 'The Master'; actually, it could end up being her first (overdue) win. But if she doesn't bring home a statue that evening, she'll probably get another shot during the 2014 Oscars, as the actress is set to play Janis Joplin for 'Precious' director Lee Daniels. And that simply sounds like gold to us.
Batman & Conan! Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Unfortunately, we may be waiting a long while before TV funnyman Conan O'Brien slinks into a costume and joins the Caped Crusader on a crime-fighting adventure, but we won't have to wait long to see him immersed in the Batman universe. Conan has joined the voice cast of Warner Bros./DC Entertainment's upcoming animated feature 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2'. So who will he be playing?
Kathryn Bigelow's highly-anticipated 'Zero Dark Thirty,' which chronicles the intense mission to track down Osama bin Laden, is coming out in a little over two months from now, but in an unusual revelation, we're only just now learning about one of the film's biggest names: James Gandolfini. Turns out Tony Soprano's formerly secretive role is an instrumental figure in rubbing out the head of al-Qaeda.
Have 20 minutes to spare? In the middle of a weekday, probably not, but what if we told you it's 20 minutes to be spent with James Bond? That's what's being offered in the latest featurette for 'Skyfall,' the quickly approaching James Bond film. It's delivered shaken, not stirred, after the break.
Can you imagine a week-long road trip with your mother? What if your mother were Barbra Streisand?! That would be crazy, right? Fortunately for you, there's no need to imagine such a thing -- Hollywood has done it for you! Paramount Pictures' 'The Guilt Trip,' starring Seth Rogen and Ms. Streisand is coming home for the holidays, and today brings us the first clip from the comedy. Watch it after the break!
