As the release date gets closer for the 20th-anniversary editions of Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind,’ some of the album’s key figures have been sharing their memories about the sessions and the band’s frontman, Kurt Cobain.

Producer Butch Vig admits not knowing how to deal with Cobain’s mood swings when the band was recording demos of ‘Lithium’ and other eventual ‘Nevermind’ tracks at Vig’s Wisconsin studio in spring 1990.

“Kurt was charming and witty,” Vig recalls. “He would be totally engaged, then all of a sudden a light switch would go off and he’d go sit in the corner and completely disappear into himself.”

Evanescence Singer Amy Lee Shows Off Surprising New Musical Gifts on Upcoming Album

From the outside, it would appear as though the last few years have been relatively quiet for Evanescence. But a lot has happened in the life of leader and big-voiced singer Amy Lee during that time.

Starting around 2007, she pursued some personal growth — or as she puts it, made a conscious effort to “find myself as an adult.” And in the process, Lee also expanded her musical horizons by learning the harp, which she plays on Evanescence’s new self-titled third album, which arrives Oct. 11.

Release Date for New Jane’s Addiction Album Is Pushed Back

Patience is a virtue, especially for Jane’s Addiction fans. After all, the band has released only four studio albums since its self-titled debut dropped in 1987, and it’s been eight years since the last one, ‘Strays.’

Well, the Jane’s faithful will have to wait a little bit longer than originally planned for the arrival of ‘The Great Escape Artist.’ Originally scheduled for a Sept. 27 release, the new album is now due Oct. 4.

Ex-Guns ‘N’ Roses Bassist Duff McKagan Launches Wealth Management Firm

As the bassist for Guns N’ Roses, Duff McKagan was paid quite handsomely. But at the time, he didn’t really have a firm grasp on the ins and outs of his earnings.

He does now. And once Meridian Rock Capital Management launches in October, McKagan and his fellow co-founders will do their best to see that other musicians stay in tune with their money and don’t ever end up singing the financial blues.

U2′s Bono Goes to Hospital for Routine Checkup, Not Chest Pains

Last year, Bono‘s emergency back surgery in Germany had the U2 fan base worried about his welfare.

There was an entirely different kind of concern for Bono over the weekend, when reports circulated that he was treated for chest pains last week at a hospital in Monaco. U2 fans can rest easy, though: It was just a routine checkup, according to a spokeswoman for the 51-year-old singer.

Move over, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Nelly: the Beastie Boys have also been immortalized as commercially available action figures.
