Astros Fire Manager Bo Porter.
In a move that was both surprising and expected (if that makes sense) the Houston Astros have fired manager Bo Porter. It was expected after the season was over due to tensions between General Manager Jeff Luhnow and Bo Porter as the season progressed not as expected. The surprise? The fact the Astros fired Porter with less than 30 games left in the season. The season was a loss anyway. Why not let the man finish the season as coach?
The Astros are headed in the right direction in their rebuilding era however, the set backs proved to be insurmountable. Along with Porter, bench coach Dave Trembley also got the axe.
Porter, 42, compiled a 110-190 record (.367 winning percentage) across parts of two seasons as Astros manager. He'll find a new coaching job somewhere I know he will. He's got a good philosophy of the game and gets to know his players on a personal level.
We'll see where Porter ends up. And who will take over as skipper next season.
