Although the Houston Astros didn't clinch the AL West division (thank you Rangers) they did cement themselves a spot in the post season even with a loss to Arizona yesterday.

With so many possibilities, there was really only 1 way they couldn't make the post season. Had they lost and the Angels won, they would have a 1 game play in at Minute Maid park in Houston. If the Angels would have won that game, season over for the Astros. However, the Texas Rangers beat the Angels 9-2 yesterday so no matter what...they were in.

However, if the Astros would have won yesterday, the 1 game wild card showdown with the New York Yankees would be happening at home. Instead, with the loss that game now moves to The Bronx on Tuesday.

However, the Astros have a great record in the Bronx this year. They're 2-1 against the bombers in their home field. And less we forget one of those games was a 15-1 blow out.

The Astros have the momentum going into the game on Tuesday. The Yankees have dropped 7 of their last 8 and aren't playing well right now. The Astros on the other hand won their series against the Diamondbacks and one of those games included a 21-5 annihilation so their bats are hot right now.

Let's hope they can keep that going in New York. The Rangers, however, won't fare so lucky. It looks like their playoffs begin in Toronto taking on the hottest team in baseball in the Blue Jays.

I'll keep you posted on outcomes.

GO STROS!!
