Swedish metal titans Arch Enemy have unfortunately been forced to cancel all of their upcoming European festival dates. The official reason for the cancellation has been attributed to "private family matters" and Arch Enemy will likely stay off the road until 2014.

Arch Enemy went worldwide to perform their signature brand of melodic death metal in 2012, and this year had been saved for the band to rest up for a small number of summer festival shows. The metallers were scheduled to play Germany's Metalfest and Wacken festivals, France's Hellfest, Sweden's Skogsrojet and Hungary's Fezen, but for reasons remaining private, Arch Enemy will no longer be a part of the various festival bills.

The following post was released by Arch Enemy via the official Wacken Open Air website:

It is with great disappointment that we have to cancel our shows at European festivals this summer. The reason for this being private family matters that demand our full attention, making it difficult to fulfill our commitments in that time frame. We are currently looking into the possibility of rescheduling these festival slots for next year. We would like to thank the festival promoters, and of course the fans for their understanding and continued support. We will use this downtime to finish up the work on our upcoming DVD/Blu-ray and continue with the songwriting process of the next Arch Enemy album. We look forward to seeing you all in 2014! Metal on!

Looks like we won't be getting any Arch Enemy until 2014, but stay tuned for future news on the band. Arch Enemy's latest record is the 2011 full-length 'Khaos Legions,' which gave the group their highest charting position to date in the U.S.
