AC/DC bandmates Angus Young and Cliff Williams are speaking out about Phil Rudd, who's been buffeted by charges of out-of-control behavior after his shocking arrest. If anything, they seem to be confirming the worst of those accusations.

In the run up to next month's release of 'Rock or Bust,' AC/DC's long-awaited new album, Williams said sessions became a chore because of Rudd's absence. "It was tough to get him there in the first place," Williams told USA Today. Young agreed, adding that "it put us in a difficult situation. It put us in a spot where we couldn't move forward. Does the guy show up? Is he reliable to do his job in good shape? We've always been a solid, reliable unit."

Rudd was notably missing from AC/DC's video shoot for 'Play Ball,' and wasn't part of the band's latest promotional photo either. Next came his arrest, initially as part of a murder-for-hire scheme, though that charge was later dropped. Rudd still stands accused of possession of both methamphetamine and marijuana and threatening to kill someone.

"Phil created his own situation," Young added. "It's a hard thing to say about the guy. He's a great drummer, and he's done a lot of stuff for us. But he seems to have let himself go. He's not the Phil we've known from the past."
