Remember when it was reported that an Iranian nuclear facility had been infected with computer malware that blasted AC/DC‘s ‘Thunderstruck’ at full volume through all of their computers in the middle of the night – otherwise known as the best computer virus ever? Well, now Iranian officials are saying not so fast!

In what sounds like he’s calling out the general public as bunch of dummies, Chief of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI), Fereydoun Abbasi, told the official ISNA news agency, “Who seriously believes such a story? It is baseless and there has never been such a thing.”

However, the internet security site F-Secure reports things a little differently, alleging they were notified of the rock infused cyber-attack by a scientist working at Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization who sent a detailed email regarding the breach, describing the impact.

According to reports, in his email the scientist confirmed that ‘Thunderstruck’ would randomly play on several workstations throughout the night as loud as possible and the scientist could not shut it off, admitting, “I am [a] scientist, not a computer expert.”

So whether the cyber attack was fact or fiction, the world may never know. Although, perhaps that’s what they mean when they say ‘Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap?’
