Can you imagine 10-20 people locked up in the same building all suffering from diarrhea? The smell alone would be enough to make anyone just a tad bit queasy. Well now imagine 700 people. YIKES!

That's what happened in El Paso County recently. Roughly 700 inmates complained of diarrhea symptoms. The situation at the jail comes in the midst of a nationwide salmonella outbreak tied to Mexican cucumbers distributed by a San Diego company. There is no word on whether the mass illness at the jail might be tied to that outbreak.

I used to work for the prison system and I've seen a stomach virus run rough shot over an entire prison but it usually hits like a wave and traveled through the prison. This hit them all at roughly the same time. I wonder what the county's toilet paper budget is.

I can't even imagine what El Paso County has in mind to tackle the problem but I don't think there are any contingencies in place for an emergency Immodium fund....but now there should be.
