Sad news in Victoria today, as the Police Department has announced the sudden death of Captain Jesse Turner, who died of an apparent heart attack yesterday.

The 52 year old Turner had served the city for nearly 32 years as a patrolman, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. He was promoted to Captain in 2004.

Captain Turner was a graduate of the FBI's National Academy, the Bill Blackwell Law Enforcement Institute, and the area representative with the FBI National Academy Associates.

Victoria Police Chief JJ Craig said “Captain Turner served the community of Victoria with dedication and distinction for over 30 years. His excellent work ethic will be greatly missed. His sudden death is deeply disheartening. Officers throughout the city mourn the loss of our brother in blue.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family during this difficult time."
